Navigating School Anxiety & Perfectionism w/My Empath Child
One year ago I couldn’t have imagined writing this…
For the second painful year in a row, we were navigating school anxiety, perfectionism, and anger outbursts with my seven year old son, Hudson. Every day it felt like his bright little light was being extinguished… and my heart was breaking into a million pieces.
Last fall, I promised Hudson I would do everything in my power to make his school year a better one. I would exhaust every resource I could find, talk to every person that could possibly help, and if I had to I would be in his school every day advocating for his needs.
Today this all feels like a distant memory. A bad dream. One that is fading quickly from my mind. So much so, that I’m thankful I kept journal entries and notes about it all so that I can share it all with the world.
Now in 2nd grade, Hudson is thriving! He is confident, happy, and shining brightly again. As I write this, my heart is overflowing with gratitude to all the amazing people, resources, and the Divine support we received. We wouldn’t be in this beautiful space without it all.
Whether you are navigating similar circumstances or on another difficult journey that feels like it’s never going to end, let this be your reminder today: Whatever you’re feeling or experiencing, it won’t last forever. There are always solutions around the corner, even if you can’t see them in this moment. We don’t grow in the ease. We grow through the discomfort and the challenges. Lastly, don’t forget to ask God/the Universe for support along the way. You were never meant to do this on your own, and prayer and intention is massively powerful.
In my latest podcast episode I share our entire journey with Hudson, including the solutions and support we finally received that catalyzed big shifts. I explain how this time period led to unexpected growth and healing for both my husband and me. I close with so many tips, practices, & rituals I’ve implemented with my children, how to truly build up their confidence & resilience, and how to instill growth mindset.
I highly recommend this episode for everyone with an elementary aged child, because it is full of valuable information! Listen to The High Vibe Soul Podcast - Ep 35 on Apple, Spotify, or watch it on Youtube.
